Antique Colt Revolver Presentation Case Mahogany 1800's W Brass - Old Pistol Box For Sale

Offered without reserve is an old wooden case for a revolver or pistol from an estate. I am not sure what pistol / gun this was for but after looking at Google pictures I suspect that it may be for a Colt revolver ? or possibly a big Clint Eastwood sized 357 revolver? It looks like a large sized pistol would fit into this case, I posted some pictures with a ruler inside to help people see the gun holder sizes. Outside it measures approx. 17" long outside by 9" wide by 3 3/4" tall, inside it measures approx. 15 1/2" long by 7 3/4" by 1 1/2" deep in the bottom section. The box has very nice looking wood grain that I suspect to be Mahogany. It has random scratches and wear as pictured, one back hinge has an old crack below it, there is another crack on the bottom that is not visible from the inside. It feels very sturdy and it looks very nice, the corners are fitted with inset brass pieces, the hinges are brass, the brass latches on the front are very unusual looking "hooks" that are set into pockets where they hook into the wood lid to hold it closed. The fuzzy felt type material inside has stains and wear because it was in a shop and was being used to hold tools, it was dirty so I gently wiped it out with fabric cleaner and vacuumed the dirt out. I suspect that it may date back into the mid 1800's era to early 1900's, hopefully someone can put it to good use..........................!, have fun offerding!..................
