Antique Porcelain Portrait Of Beautiful Lady In Red, Kpm ? Signed Wagner :
Lovely estate find, beautiful antique portrait by Wagner.Selling for a friend whose mother collected portraits for many years, and had a deep love for them. I am not an expert in porcelain portraits , but I do know this is old and in lovely condition, including the gold painted plaster on wood frame it is mounted in, it is ornate and quite heavy and very old. I will say that the frame will need cleaning from being in storage for so long. It is a lovely old frame for this portrait, but it is not perfect . Still it could be hung in the condition it is in and enjoyed even with its issues. It is a sturdy well built frame. Portrait is secured with old rusty nails, which you would want to check before hanging. On the back of the portrait it is written in faint red, Reflexion and hand written in pencil, aste or asti. Also it has a stamp of a crown and shield with the letters CM and Hr and at the top of the shield is a crown . The stamp is small, maybe 1/2 tall at the most. Below the stamp is number 107. I looked this stamp up in Kovels book on porcelain marks and it appears that this portrait was made in Germany .The portrait is in unscratched condition and has been lighted, I seen no cracks or chips. It has lovely rich color. The quality of this portrait is wonderful in color and detail, you will not be disappointed if you are a porcelain collector of this artist. At the right at the very bottom corner it is signed Wagner.Portrait measures 6"inches tall and 4 " wide. Framed, it measures 81/2" tall and 6 3/4 " inches wide.I am selling this for a friend , so I must insure it, so please wait for me to send an invoice reflecting this. The last time I sold portraits and charged insurance, my feed back rating for shipping went down, so I took time off selling my friends things. Please understand that it costs all of us that sell on time and materials to carefully wrap your item and then pay the post office their fees to ship it to you. I am very proud of my packing and getting things to you in the condition you brought them in.I ship your purchase within 4 to 5 working days.
