i have for sale this super cool signed b and h lamp. this is a big lamp folks measuring in at 24 inches tall with a 19 and 1/2 inch wide shade. i have not seen another one like it and i have been selling and collecting lamps going on twenty years. lets start with the base. original patina throughout and with all four original arrow sockets and pulls. all sockets in good working order and pull nicely. no metal fatique or breaks anywhere, so basically this base needs no excuses. onto the shade. the glass is outstanding both in color and condition. the glass in sunset coloration throughout which is 100% perfect to go with the tropical theme and palm trees in the overlay. perfect lamp to look at for the 6 degree weather we are experiencing here in upstate ny. no metal fatique nor cracks or breaks in the metal work throughout. all tabs that hold in the glass present and accounted for and i see no signs of missing filligree either. bradley and hubbard made some very strong and solid lamps in their day and this is one of them and this thing lights up way better than my pictures can project. just a great lamp in all aspects. this great lamp is selling to the highest buyer with unlike most other sales nowadays and most certainly not like the sale houses of today that also charge 15 to 25 % buyers premium. the only downside to this lamp is the size and weight as its going to be expensive to ship but if anyone wants to pick it up that option exists as well. thanks for looking and please check out my other sales as well.buyers please remember that i am selling antiques and that thereshould bea degree of expectationon your part inknowing that there will be normal aging and minor imperfections towards an item that is 75 to 100 years old. chances are if there arent any, its a newer item and youshouldntwant it anyways. in other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. i really dont want to do a refund because the finial ( typically a 10.00 piece ) isnt perfect on a 2,000.00 lamp. i always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what i deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. it seems the more experienced an antique dealeror buyeris, the more understanding of condition they are. that being said, if you think your going to be a difficult buyer because you want perfection in a 100 year old piece, please purchase another sellers product. has made itvery difficult for sellers in the past few years yet im a good seller who wants to be fair and all i ask for is a fair buyer to do business with. thanks for your understanding.

There are a few things in life we can’t do without. Food, water, fire, oxygen, the sun, shelter etc. So when it comes to shelter and necessary light for it, that’s where I come in. I believe in living simply and within my means butsurrounded by items of great quality. I would rather own a great reverse painted lamp or Stickley bookcase than drive a foreign car that will only depreciate in value and cost me good money for repairs and maintenance. Or pay $40,000 in property taxes a year on a 7,000 square foot home that I only use 2500 sq. ft.of and the wasteful utilities that go along with that.

So why is it people go out and spend say $500.00 bucks on a pair of lamps that in ten years will be in a rummage sale with the hopes of getting $15.00 for the pair. Why not spend $1,000 on a lamp and have something meaningful, and when you tire of it ten years later, sell it, and get your money back in its entirety or even make a profit on top of the investment. Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something 100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world and now it’s yours. You own it. You display it and care for it. It becomes part of you so to speak versus a throw away item that was purchased at Raymour and Flanigan, Sears, Macy’s or Walmart.

So again that’s where I come in. lighting. Great period lighting when electricity was still in its infancy. When makers like Bradley and Hubbard, Handel, Tiffany studios, Pairpoint,and others cared about quality, appearance, and function. When makers were trying to outdo one another with this new business boom of electriclighting. When we went from whale and kerosene oil lamps and gas,to electric. This is when the best lamps in the world were manufactured and the ones I want to light my home with when its dark. I can’t control the sun or the amount of light it provides or when it comes up or goes down, and whether it’s cloudy or not, but I can control the light in my home when its dark. and like I said earlier, I want nice rugs, paintings, pottery, furniture, etc. and I want to see those itemslit by great lighting. It’s what makes a home more outstanding and livable because without it you see absolutely nothing. A quality lamp makes or breaks a room. You can have the best rugs, furniture, paintings, and accessories in the world, but without great lamps or lighting nobody will ever see it. Buy quality and you will never regret it.
