C1863 Antique White Ironstone Medium Pitcher John Meir & Son Washington Shape

c1863 Antique White Ironstone Medium Pitcher John Meir & Son Washington Shape

Hello from Spyglass Treasures and Spyglass Booty! We are constantly trying to "SPY" out treasures for you in our travels. Please come back often because you never know what we have "commandeered" to offer you!
This is a lovely antique white ironstone pottery pitcher with embossed images of leaves and flowers radiating from the handle towards the body. Then there are more leaves adorning the underside of the spout. This gorgeous old pitcher was made by John Meir & Sons and is in the Washington Shape. The Washington Shape originated in 1863 and this pitcher was made sometime between then and the 1880's. It is marked with an incised mark on the bottom that includes the English Registry diamond mark. A wonderful treasure you NEED to commandeer for yourself or your loved one! Condition: There are some crazing or cracks on the bottom and there is discoloration and wear from age and use. The cracks in the bottom do not affect the use of this lovely pitcher. I tested it and it does not leak. This wonderful pitcher is otherwise in excellent condition! Approximate Dimensions: 6 1/2" tall Antique and Pre-OwnedCollectible Treasures - A Personally Satisfying, Environmentally Responsible, and Fiscally Smart Investment!

I will gladly combine to save you on shipping if the items can be safely shipped together. If there's another sale you are interested in, please be assured I will do the best I can to save you money in shipping. Please email for a quote.

Additional information:

To International buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to offerding/buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up. Please do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. We do not mark merchandise values below the sold price or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.

And:

Please keep in mind, I mostly sell used items. Therefore, the item may have some minor signs of use I think are not worth mentioning. I will always mention, in my description above, anything major that I find whether it is damage or a manufacturing flaw. If you have specific questions in that regard, please ask! I will be happy to give you more detailed information.

Due to 's upcoming changes in fees, I will be experimenting with offering free and flat rate shipping on select items. The carrier I use for these instances will be dependent on the weight and size of each specific item or items. For the most part, I use Priority and First Class Mail for lighter weight items and for items that may not require a box but can be shipped in an envelope. However, most items will ship via UPS if shipped within the continental US.

My shipping days are typically Monday through Thursday not including holidays.

An additional note about insurance. Some time ago, changed its rules regarding insurance. They state that making sure that a package gets safely in your hands is the seller's responsibility. While I agree this is actually a very good policy to ensure confidence in making a purchase on , it has resulted in making insurance a requirement for every sale. Insurance is included in the shipping and handling cost for all items shipped within the United States. All items whose value goes above $100.00 and whose winner is outside of the United States will be shipped via USPS Insured Priority or Express Mail.

"The urge to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it." – H. L. Mencken (September 12, 1880 – January 29, 1956)

“Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed? . . . .We want them broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts that you’re up against – and then you’ll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. . . . . There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-aoffering citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of lawbreakers – and then you cash in on the guilt. Now that’s the system, . . . that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.” - Floyd Ferris to Hank Reardon in Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand (February 2, 1905 to March 6, 1982)

"I will not cede more power to the state. I will not willingly cede more power to anyone, not to the state, not to General Motors, not to the CIO. I will hoard my power like a miser, resisting every effort to drain it away from me. I will then use my power as I see fit. I mean to live my life an obedient man, but obedient to God, subservient to the wisdom of my ancestors; never to the authority of political truths arrived at yesterday at the voting booth.” - William F. Buckley (November 24, 1925 – February 27, 2008)
