Offered for sale is this Victorian porcelain fairingmatch strikerbox. It was made in Germany at the end of the nineteenth century and likely exported to England where these little treasures were very popular. The boxfeatures afigural fox hound on the lid witha horn and ball (?). The base has strikers on both sides. This piece is 2 1/4" high and 2 5/8" across. Thereis an illegible artist's mark. The box is in very good estate condition the only flaw I find a flat flake on the horn. Not at all noticeable but see the enlarged photos to evaluate.A very appealing match striker fairing for any collection! The cost of U.S. shipping and very careful packing is $5.00.
