C1930s Navajo Rug Native American Indian Blanket Navaho Textile Weaving Wool Nr For Sale

Offered here is a circa 1930s natural colored Navaho weaving that measures 3 feet 11 inches long by 2 foot 7 inches wide or 47” x 31”. It is attributed to the Eastern Reservation weaving area and is in very good+ condition. It was handwoven by an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcarded and finely handspun good quality Merino sheep wool, both weft & warp. Here is a nice finely serrated concentric diamond motif Navajo rug with nice triple end stripes.

We obtained this vintage Native American textile on a rug hunt in Arizona just to offer you here on . It has a fine weft count averaging 30 per inch and a fine warp count of 10 per inch. The selvage cords are all in excellent condition. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners are all four tight, original and in excellent condition. Three tassels are original and in excellent condition and one is half restored to excellent condition. It has never been cleaned, is needing a cleaning now & comes from a non-smoking home. There are scattered soiled spots and the whites overall should brighten nicely with a wash. Everything looks like it should wash right out. Both sides are even in pattern color and shown in photos above. Colors are great in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded & hand blended natural salt & pepper grayish brown & ivory white along with hand dyed aniline over-dyed black. Complete with lazy lines, this example of Native Americana is ready to head your way.
