Rare, ca1900, Great White Fleet / Spanish American War subject, “Round Trip Cut Plug” Smoking Tobacco Lunch Pail Advertising Tin. This fantastic, original Tobacco Tin measures approx. 5" tall by 6 1/2" by 5" tall and features a wire, bale handle at the top. The lithography on the front and back panel of the Tin features an image of a United States Navy Battleship from the Great White Fleet. Text on the front and rear panels reads "Round Trip Cut Plug Smoking Tobacco". The same image of the US Navy Battleship appears on three of the four side panels
Round Trip Cut Plug was manufactured by the Larus and Brothers Tobacco Co. Richmond, Va. The Tin has a rather odd, wire closure which allows the front panel to open (rather than the top) and carries the mark of the American Can Company - Factory "No. 50".
This rare and very attractive, Nautical / American Navy motif Tobacco Lunch Pail Advertising Tin is in very good condition - the Tin itself is sound and intact with no rust through or major damage. The Lunch Pail retains its original latch and closure at the top panel. This rare and quite wonderful Tobacco Tin does display nicely as can be seen in the scans below.
