Ca1900 Tabletop Mechanical Stereoscope Stereoviewer By Jules Richard Verascope For Sale
Very Rare and beautiful, ca1900 Mahogany Table Top Mechanical Stereoviewer / Stereoscope patented and manufactured by Jules Richard and used to view Glass Stereo Photographs taken with Richard’s Patented Verascope Camera.
This beautiful, turn of the 20th century, Tabletop Viewer measures approx. 8 1/4" by 8 1/4" at the base and 16 1/2" tall. It is made entirely of beautiful, close grained Mahogany with stereo eyepieces that can be focused using a rack and pinion mechanism activated using knobs mounted on the right and left hand sides of the Viewer. This Tabletop Viewer can hold 50 Glass Stereoviews on a revolving, internal mechanism that works smoothly and positions the views for proper viewing before the external eyepieces.
The attached label located above the viewing eyepieces reads "Stereoscope Brevete S.G.D. Vues Prises Avec Verascope Richard” (rough Translation “Stereoscope (for) Views Taken With patented Verascope Richard”).
This rare and beautiful, Tabletop Mechanical Stereoviewer / Stereoscope / Stereopticon is in excellent condition. The Viewer lacks the small, frosted glass pane on the reverse (which we are having duplicated and inserted) but otherwise all interior and exterior parts are present and exceptionally well preserved. The revolving mechanism which holds the Glass Stereoviews is intact, sound and works perfectly. The viewer retains its original, highly polished surface finish which is exceptionally well preserved. It has never been refinished, repaired, restored, or altered in any way. As mentioned above the frosted glass panel is being replaced but otherwise we can honestly say that this viewer is as “original” and as well preserved as any we have come across.
A very rare and very beautiful, ca1900 Mahogany Table Top Mechanical Stereoviewer / Stereoscope patented and manufactured by Jules Richard and used to view Glass Stereo Photographs taken with Richard’s Patented Verascope Camera and a fantastic addition to any Collection!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
