Offered here is a circa ­­1890 beautiful old Navaho weaving that measures 5 feet 3 inches long by 3 foot 9 inches wide or 63” x 45”. It is attributed to the historic old Hubbell Trading Post / Ganado, Arizona weaving area and is in excellent condition. It was handwoven by an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcarded and smoothly handspun silky old long staple Churro sheep wool, both weft & warp. Here is an absolutely gorgeous old Hubbell Cross Indian rug with a black outlined internal grayish brown field surrounded by a striking transitional red outer field. Fairly evenly spaced all over the rug are black ~ white and black & white small crosses. Just an electric old Navajo transitional rug.

We obtained this vintage Native American textile out of one of three big collections from Arizona just to offer you here on . It has a smooth, even weft count averaging 16 per inch and a warp count of 5 per inch. The selvage cords are all in excellent condition with one break repaired on each end. Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiral cords. The corners are all four tight, original and in excellent condition. Three tassels have been restored & excellent and 1 half restored & excellent. It looks to be clean now & comes from a non-smoking home. Both sides are even in pattern color and shown in photos above. Colors are terrific in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded & hand blended natural variegated grayish brown, ivory white and probably a vegetal sumac leaf & pińon pitch black along with hand dyed aniline transitional red. Complete with lazy lines, this example of ­­­antique Native Americana is ready to display in your own hacienda or just tuck away in your private rug & blanket collection.
