Fine Large Liberty & Co Art Nouveau Silver Buckle 1899 Oliver Baker:
an extremelyfine large silver and lapis buckle by oliver baker,a very early piece(1899)it is offabulous quality with only minor signs of age and useand would have been sold through the liberty & co store as part of their cymric and tudricranges,there were several designers using this medium of design and decoration during this era,amongst those the most notable were,archibald knox,jessie m king,murrle bennett( who produced designs for the cymric range of silverware for liberty's)james fenton andcharles horner.thisranks along side those in both design and quality of manufacture.it measures a whopping 4.25" x 2.75" and weighs a massive 80g,(if this is a nurses buckle then i suggest she as matron),marked to theback with the full assay office marks forbirmingham with the date letterz for 1899 andthe l & cothree diamond punch for liberty & cothe marks are clear andlegible the two end sections carry conforming marks.please feel free to ask any questions and i will reply within 24hours,this is a genuinepiece and should not be mistaken for the unmarked copies and reproduction items offered on .postage is by special delivery in the u.k and airsure or signed for to international destinations.
