Unfortunately the photos have not done this ring justice, I will add some more soon. The stone is a dark blue, although most of the photos appear black. It is a good quality ceylon sapphire, a good size, and translucent. The sparkling white stones surrounding the sapphire appear in the photos to be flat, but are glorious, some of the best quality cubic zirconia I have seen, they are full of coloured rainbows, and sparkle as the wearer moves her hand. Looking at this ring, it is easy to see why these stones are often believed to be diamonds.

As most people would know, they are the same mineral composition as diamonds, but created in a laboratory and then faceted, the same as diamonds.

The ring is English, 1970's, made by an excellent jeweller. The sapphire is held by no less than ten claws, and the Cz are all individually claw set as well. The setting is held up off the band so the light can penetrate and cause the stones to have enough light to sparkle. The ring has been made in sterling silver and then the band is clad in gold. The hallmarks include GOLSIL, common in England, and then the full set of English hallmarks including the company, the anchor, the lion passant, and another, possibly the signature of the maker. There is a textured teardrop shape at the top of the band on both sides.

The ring is in excellent vintage condition, with almost no sign of wear at all. This was probably originally an engagement ring, and could be again, or just worn for its unusual beauty. It is size 7.5 (US) or O (English sizing)
