THE MDF Acoustica 747XP Stethoscope is a MAJOR VALUE. Now, most of us are familiar with 3M / LITTMANN Models. The LITTMANN line, is a MEDIUM RANGE line of scopes. They've been around for 55 years, in one incarnation, or, another. They work, and they work pretty well, if you want a compact stethoscope that is handy, and, EXPENSIVE. MDF, brings us a variation on the old design, and, some really good, and practical upgrades. Please allow me to say something about these upgrades. ONE : The MDF 747XP Acoustica, is made from a lighter metal, so, you have less weight to deal with, especially as many practicioners desire less weight, because they walk on rounds to patients' rooms, in the Hospital environments. The 747XP lends the practicioner the QUALITY they are seeking, and, the lighter weight they want in an " every day working environment ". TWO : SOUND GATHERING : The MDF boasts thicker tubing than it's other-brand cousins, in the stethoscope trade. In another major brand, you have a similar make, in a heavier piece, but, the SOUND GATHERING is not superior to the MDF 747XP, PLUS, you're going to PAY $ 135 to $150 dollars for the piece. You will pay not nearly that kind of money for the 747XP, at full retail, and, to say the truth, on eBAY you will not pay full retail, in most cases. THREE: EACH STETHOSCOPE IS REGISTERED. Call the MDF Customer Care number, REGISTER YOUR PRODUCT, and get alternate size eartips, should you want, or, need them. THE OTHER BRAND offers good customer service, and has for 50 years. MDF Customer Care, is markedly better. Call MDF's Customer Care line. Enjoy the benefits of REALLY FINE CUSTOMER CARE. ARE YOU IN A CARDIOLOGY PRACTICE ? Enjoy fine, fine bedside Cardiology, with MDF CARDIOLOGY Stethoscopes ! Listen to SPLENDID thoracic sounds, through the patient's chest wall, neck, supra-orbital notch, abdominal sounds, and hear 1 + murmurs, rubs, and Mitral Regurgitation, with our Cardiology Models. It's really all here. MDF Stethoscopes. HES / MANHATTAN, NYCRead full review

I tried to be cheap and I regret it. I needed a backup for training as a provider. It sounds like crap and is muffled, there for it’s unreliable. These devices can save someone’s life so if you don’t pick up on adventitious sounds then you are neglecting the patient. I ended up with a $200+ cardiology stethoscope now I know the difference between a $20 economy stethoscope.
