Cleans easily. I put a small amount of hot soapy water in the mixing cup and jog the power switch, then run under hot water and it's clean. Mixes milkshakes and hot cocoa using powder milk that used to stick to fork or spoon perfectly. I am pleased.

It is easy to be deceived: Variable Speed - Turns out to be 2 speed like other 2 speed models Removable Shaft - Turns out to be the lower casing containing the "shaft". Having lost a CHEFMAN hand blender to a frozen (then broken) shaft in the lower case, I believed that I could remove the Oster shaft from its casing to thoroughly clean. Wrong! The "Removable Shaft" is nothing more than the detachable lower segment. Shaft Casing Material - In the 2600 series, Oster makes both a plastic and a stainless steel lower casing. The 2609 has the cheap plastic casing. If I had it to do over again, I'd look to buy the 2 speed hand blender with stainless steel "Removable Shaft" (Casing).

I suppose for a lower priced blender I maybe was expecting too much. All in all, this Oster Hand Blender does blend ok, but is designed for someone with Small hands. You do have to continually press the buttons very hard because they are not very sensitive to touch .... in other words, you have to push the buttons IN about 1/4 inch and hold it there to keep blending .... let up just slightly and it stops. I found it very annoying and awkward to use this blender. One other thing, It claims to be a variable speed blender but in truth it just has two speeds, High and Low I used this blender about 15 times and now it will probably end up in a garage sale.

I like this hand blender better than any other I've used. It has the speed (choice of 2) and the metal blades necessary to puree small pieces of frozen fruit. The larger size of the 1/2 round around the blades make it easier to clean and also somewhat less likely for liquid to slop over the top of the container you're mixing in. Oster makes a smaller blender with plastic blades and mixing area that's hard to clean. I don't recommend that one so don't get them mixed up!

Works great!! wish is was lighter, but then I have carpel tunnel... I am a cook book writer, and this is something I use almost everyday! It is the best thing to use for baby food, blending sauces, etc......
