I love this book. I was so excited to see the Pixie series come out in print. Disney is starting a Pixie Hollow Fairies line of books and toys to introduce the fairies. In 2007 Tink will have her movie! In the meantime, this book introduces the many talented fairies of Pixie Hollow--a hollow walnut log in Neverland. In this special book, Tink, a pots and pans talent fairy has lost her hammer and as a result, she's lost her talent. She can't fix pots and pans! The colanders won't drain and pots won't boil. Peter Pan has a spare hammer but Tink has to decide whether or not to reconcile with him after Wendy. It is a great book about pride and decisions and friendship. It is written with descriptive words that bring you into the world of fairies. Disney does the illustrations perfectly.
The Trouble With Tink by Kiki Thorpe ******For Girls from Disney ******** FAIRIES************ This book The Trouble with Tink is from a new series on Fairies by Disney & published by Random House. Playing on the current popularity of fairies we are introduced to Pixie Hollow. Pixie Hollow is located in Neverland, you know where that is: Just head towards the second star and fly straight on 'til morning. A big old maple tree grows in Pixie Hollow & in it live hundreds of fairies & sparrow men. There is of course TINK or Tinkerbell of Peter Pan fame. She is a feisty little pixie! You will meet Vidia who is sly & sarcastic, Beck, who loves the animals, & Lily who loves the gardens. This is book number one in this series & of course features Tinkerbell. Now she hasn't spoken to Peter Pan since he brought Wendy to Neverland, but she finds herself in a predicament. She has lost her special tinker's hammer & nothing she fixes anymore comes out right. She happens to have a spare hammer at Peter's hideout, but is she willing to speak to him again or is she too stubborn! Find out if Tink is willing to renew her friendship or lose her special talents forever! Softcover book has 109 pages & some beautiful illustrations. The book is illustrated by Judith Holmes Clark & the Disney Storybook Artists. The illustrations are delightful & you can certainly see the Disney touch. The cover even has a little "pixie dust" sparkle to it! I believe these books were written for about 7-9 years of age. Of course the appeal is much more to girls than boys. I would think 2nd & 3rd grade is age appropriate. The book is called a stepping stone book. I am not exactly sure what that means, but my educated guess is that this new series is a stepping stone in between real simple books & harder chapter books. I purchased for one of my granddaughters. Great gifts for Christmas, birthday or anytime. I highly recommend the book.Read full review
Purchased originally as an incentive reward for a client who is fond of Tinkerbell. As we read the book together my little client was able to identify with Tinks struggles. I would ask her, "what is Tink doing? What would you tell Tink? Would that work for you too?" Much therapeutic value in this book, as well as a delightful childrens' story. Beautifully illustrated. Highly recommend as gift or for clinical use in identifying and working through feelings.
My daughter loves these books. She is 8. She asked Santa for this title. She didn't ask for toys this year, just books from this series and the Treehouse series. I wouldn't enjoy reading it out loud to her. It isn't a classic like A Wrinkle in Time or The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. However, she knows the characters, the setting, and the plot of each story and each one keeps her looking forward to the next in the series.
Was very enthused about the purchase of this children's book; however, as it is a Christmas gift, was very disappoint to see the entire cover of the book as a permanent hard-crease in it. Wouldn't have bought the book had I known about this obvious "mar". Probably won't buy from this seller again...
