The motor I received was not as pictured or described. The motor I received has a rear mounted capacitor which increases its length by two inches. It is made in Mexico by US Motors; not AO Smith/Century as advertised. However, if the additional rear end length is not a problem, this motor mounts up and is spec'd exactly the same as the pictured motor. Unlike the pictured motor, the motor I received has no vents or drainage in the steel housing. This may be a problem with outdoor use. The motor is installed and running quietly at full tilt. So far, so good. Ask me again in five years.;

Direct replacement unit. The one I replaced was just starting to get noisy after 18 years of use. Wish everything lasted the way this pump motor has.

After my booster pump burned out I was in the market of looking to buy a new pump. Polaris now has two options the original PB4-60, and the PB4SQ, one more expensive than the next. This motor from AO Smith is the exact replacement for the PB4-60 at half the cost. If your volute is in good shape there’s no need to buy the entire replacement. I received my motor brand new, installed the volute, wired it up, started it up, that simple. They say the new PB4SQ is nearly silent, but this motor runs pretty quiet itself. I highly recommend buying this motor if you want or need to save some cash.

After years of service my Polaris pool sweep motor stopped working. The pump was fine so I simply replaced the motor with the A O Smith motor. Matched my pump perfectly. Wrenched a few bolts, put in new O rings, reattached the wires, and I'm back in business.
