The characters are interesting and likable. There's a touch of the supernatural by an 'angel' figure and the story provides another chance to remember that we only see a tiny part of each person when we interact. Everybody has a lot of 'stuff' going on behind the outward facade. Good opportunity for discussions with preteens about looking past the outward appearance.
