Having been born and raised in Texas, I found this mini- series to be really good and entertaining. Reminded me of my Texas History class in high school.

A good historical narrative, obviously shorter than Michener's novel, but well done. Having moved to Texas six months ago, it was necessary viewing.

The movie starts pretty much with Volume 2 of Michener's TEXAS. Missing is the entire contribution of Spain, Mexico and the native American tribes leading up to the Texas in the 19th century. Acting was just so-so and it appears that the budget for this movie must have been pretty tight - even by the standards of the 1990s. Allen

I generally try to understand the history of the area in which I am living. The James A. Michener's 'Texas' is very informative. I'm not sure if it is historically correct. But, it provides a good insight into the 'birth' of the state of Texas. It is also very entertaining as well as enlightening. This is the way, I believe, that we all should learn history.
very good movie, recommend
