A deeply inspiring film that brings into focus the plight suffered by many truly brilliant people, that fine line between genius and madness. This is the story of John Forbes Nash (Russell Crowe), a brilliant mathematician, who while struggling for a new idea at Princeton, finds inspiration for innovative work on game theory. Chosen for a post at MIT which includes crutial code breaking work for the government, he progressively drifts into mental illness. Having fallen in love with a beautiful student, Alicia (jennifer Connelly), they marry and at first are happy, but his deepening mental illness threatens that happiness. He is diagnosed with schizophrenia, and eventually cannot distinguish reality from insanity. The only constant being their love for eachother. Both Crowe and Connelly dekiver stellar performances in this film. This is a pleaser.Read full review
I'm happy to have A Beautiful Mind in my collection. No matter how often I see it, it's worth seeing again because the action is so good and the acting is so engaging. John Nash's story is heartbreaking but filled with hope as time passes toward the end. One negative is that there are quite a few "dark" scenes where it's impossible to see what's going on. I viewed it in daylight so it might be better in a darkened room...? If you have not see it, do; and plan to watch it twice at least to catch all you missed the first time. I can't say enough good about each actor. It was superbly cast. Read about John Nash, too! Amazing! It will enhance your experience. This is one of my favorite movies and the fact that it's a true story just emphasizes its greatness.

I love everything about this movie. The struggles as they overcome some of the hardest obstacles there are in life; like trust, faith, and using logic to keep your balance. The musical score is beautiful. The perspective of a man suffering from schizophrenia is heartbreaking but somehow magical. Seeing how people stick by him through it all is reassuring.

My granddaughter's therapist recommended this book/movie to us. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The movie was great! I can't believe I had never seen it before. Russell Crowe did a fantastic job acting in the movie. I would recommend it to others.

I love the fact this is a true story. Then, add the awards winning actors and actresses to it, and it’s a masterpiece. I could watch this again and again..
