John Wayne's portrayal of the hard-bitten Marine Sgt. Stryker in this film earned him his first Oscar nomination. There are many memorable scenes in this movie, including a classic fist fight between John Wayne and Forrest Tucker, which is either the best fake fighting both men ever did, or they were knocking each other around for real. It will not disappoint fans of the Duke or those looking for a good WWII action movie. Actual combat footage is used in this B&W film, and it is one of the more realistic World War 2 films made during the 1940s. I think this is one of the best John Wayne war movies. If you like "Sands of Iwo Jima," you may also enjoy watching John Wayne in "They Were Expendable," and "Back to Bataan."
I bought it because my brother loves movies like this and its hard to find in good shape like this one
