I chose this model because it has a serial port as well as a parallel printer port. A lot of gear in the broadcast industry still uses RS-232 serial ports and the USB to serial adapters don't always work. You do have to provide your own video display card, but most people want to have something better than the on board video on most motherboards. The motherboard will support Intel Core 2 Quad Core CPUs' as well as duo core chips. There are 4 SATA connectors, but if you have some old IDE drives that you need to transfer data from, or are just too good to junk, this board has an IDE socket and yes, there's even a connector for a floppy drive. There are 4 USB connectors on the rear, as well as connectors on the MB for two front panel USB jacks There is on board audio, which is OK for casual use. I had no problems getting this board up and running, it worked first time out of the box.Read full review
After the original motherboard was destroyed by a very near lightning strike, this board allowed me to basically plug-and-play all my old hard drives etc. This was terrifying as I was storing over 2 TB of important information, data files, photos and music.
