I have read a-many true serial killer books. But none takes the mind on a ghastly ride of terror as the way Harold Schechter wrote "Deviant". The foreshadowing is outstanding; a hint is given early, then the truth of the hint becomes revealed later on in the story. Harold did this numerous of times in "Deviant", and no time did it become old or repetitive. Harold made Mr. Ed Gein, Slayer's Dead Skin Mask, the most haunting true-life ghoul ever to have been created by the Lord himself. If you like to have your eyelids crawl and your mind sickened, be sure to read this masterpiece. "Dance with the dead in my dreams, listen to their hallowed screams, the dead have taken my soul, temptation has lost all control"...Slayer
I just purchased this awhile back, I actually thought it was a DVD when I bought it. When it arrived I was alittle dispointed knowing it was a book instead of a DVD, I almost sent it back. But when I started reading it I thought no way, I'm keeping this, when I started reading it I realized I couldn't put it down. I'm glad I bought, it now real good story on Ed Gein. I feel that it is worth the money I gave for it.
This book was by far one of the grossest, creepiest true crime books I ever read. It was a scarey and riveting way. I was kept interested in the contents the way people are when they see an accident that is beyond all comprehension. Kept me interested and aware of the nature of some people we loosely call human.
It was great.
