Hooked the printer up and the computer picked it up right away and started printing. I printed out twenty colored copies in a hurry without a glitch.

This is one of the better printers in its class when it comes to photo quality. It's a bit slow and doesn't have wireless capabilities. It's an older model and has been discontinued but you can find one used for a good value every now and then. The trending price on ebay is very high but if you're patient you can pick one up for a great deal.

Prints well. I like the two trays (photo + 8.5 x 11).The wakeup mode is a plus. Having problem with the top tray latching up when I load paper; first unit did not have this problem. Manufacture date on this one is 46 days older than my first printer. This is an exact replacement of my original printer; I had too many $$$ in ink in storage so I bought the same model. First printer started to give me warnings when I used off brand ink cartridges so wakeup mode would lock up. I had to do a bypass on the printers touch screen every time I started the printer. Did bypass on screen for two years. Finally it locked up with code errors – said needed service. Buy their ink or else. When I am done with all that ink in my storage room, I will be looking at other options when I start getting error messages on this unit.Read full review
The printer is great, but will not print borderless using MS Publisher on 8.5 X 11.00 paper. I've contacted HP technical support many times, but they have determined a way to print borderless using MS Publisher. Very disspointed with HP support. They now ignore my emails. If you don't need to print borderless using MS Publisher you'll be very happy with the quality. Photos print very, very sharp; one of the best printers I've used. I've owned Canon (i860) & Epson (C82 & C84) printers and they have no problemx printing bordeless using MS Publisher. Ashame HP support is so poor and have not helped resolve the issue. You can search the web and find that other have the same borderless issue.
The printer was purchased for use by elderly gentleman who is an officer in our non-profit no kill shelter (Pet Guardian Angel Inc.) He has printed the photos he and others took of our available pets for years and had a unit identical to this one. He searched everywhere for a printer that would print the photos small as we fed them onto the internet to Petfinders Inc. He is not computer savy, he just took the photos and printed them and was frustrated not finding anything being made today. We bought an 'in the box' Sony VCR a few months back and love it... he also loves this printer which does exactly what he wants and it is perfect helping us save many pets.
