If you are a fan of the 80's horror genre - when slasher films were king - then you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. Four years after an accident that leaves her mother dead, Virginia and her father return to thier family home and thier former lives. Virginia is friends with all of the most popular kids in school and appears to be doing fine... except for one troubling detail. She cannot remember anything about the accident, or her time in recovery. As her birthday draws nearer Virginia is looking forward to celebrating with her friends. The only problem is that they keep disappearing. To make matters worse she begins having flashbacks of the accident, as well as her time in recovery - which is chilling to say the least. The twists and turns in the storyline will keep you guessing who is behind the murders of Virginia's friends right up until the chilling end, which has a very unexpected twist. You will have to watch this movie closely, as the storyline can sometimes become difficult to follow, but other than that it is a fun and suspenseful watch.Read full review
As simple as I can put this...a great slasher flick. This film contains all the genre conventions yet finds a way to put a twist in them! You can read the product description to know what the film is about so I'll just say the "mystery" is not very hard to solve but is very rewarding,..once the plot finds its way to the end. Great special effects, way above average acting, and a strong directorial effort by J.Lee Thompson (The Guns of the Navarone, the original Cape Fear) who is in the twilight of his career. This film was released at the hight of the slasher craze and still resides at the genres zenith which so few others made it to. Grade: Strong "A". -Jonnie
What a stinker! An attempt at a gorefest that fails in just about every department with one of the most ridiculous endings of all times. The acting is average, which is why it's not rated "poor" and the gory deaths are fairly well-represented but it fails to deliver in the final reel. The pseudo psychology explaining the madness of the young girl played by Melissa Sue Gilbert is just plain bogus. It's like it all came out of a grade Z comic book. There are some sickening scenes, especially one involving brain surgery, so this is definitely not recommended for the faint of heart and especially not even children. Unfortunately, this is now a kind of collector's item due to its being discontinued, so prices are going higher on it. If you really want to see it, try to find a rental! Glenn Ford appears in a few scenes, looking somewhat dazed, as if to convey the message "Wait till I get ahold of my agent for getting me into this dreck!" I bought this for a friend who considers it one of his favorite film -- so not everyone shares my opinion. I like horror movies but this one is just horrible!Read full review
