These books are a great little addition to the library for early/emergent readers. The books are small and easy to handle and hold. The content is filled with repetitive sight words. The reader becomes familiar with the characters and is interested in learning what new adventure is in store for them. The stories become more complex with more and more words added with each book and are repeated many times so the reader develops a larger collection of sight-words.

I love the Dick and Jane series of books. The words are simple and repetitive, which makes them easy for a child to recognize. These are great books for a child just learning to read. My granddaughter read her first book "Fun With Dick and Jane" when she was 3 1/2 yrs. old. Since then, we purchase any new Dick and Jane books that we can. She loves being able to read them to us!
As I have gotten older, I really enjoy the Dick & Jane books that I used in elementary school and would like to have my grandchildren know alittle about my days in elementary. I feel that the Dick & Jane books is one way for me to be able to do that. They are short stories for little children to read & keep their interest in reading. I feel that Dick & Jane are what brothers & sisters should be like.
I grew up learning to read in these books, and always loved them. I really love the sweet images, and thought it would be fun to have one.

I had these books early 1950s and I learned to read just fine. Healthy and clean learning.
