Those Star Trek fans out there that can't get enough of the refit Enterprise from the Motion Picture would love this book. It features dozens of floorplans, diagrams, and photos of not only the ship itself, but also the props and uniforms seen throughout the 6 original series Star Trek movies. The author, Shane Johnson, was given access to Paramount's archives and sets when making this book, meaning that the drawings are particularly accurate. However, this book has been around for a while without any new additions or updates, and therefore it does not have any information on the ship past Star Trek IV. Additionaly, a lot of the background information discussed in the book has since been superceded, either by newer Star Trek reference books such as the Star Trek Encyclopedia or newer Star Trek movies/TV series. Finally, the book is completely black and white, with no color guide for the uniforms or props (as is present in Franz Joseph's Star Trek Technical Manual). Despite these shortcomings, Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise is a worthwhile addiiton to your Star Trek library. It brings a wide range of diagrams and info into one convienient volume, and as such acts as a worthy compendium to the first 4 Star Trek movies.Read full review
This book is extremely detailed! A must have for any Star Trek fan who enjoys knowing how everything works (and I do mean everything!). Extremely informative and yet still easy to read and understand.
