This is a classic for a reason- it is dirt cheap, gaudy color, it really should feel like a toy rod, but it doesn't. This rod fishes like a dream! It has a slow action and soft feel that loads easily and presents small flies gently. I'm having a blast with mine. Small stream fishing and panfish in ponds/lakes are just more enjoyable with a quality rod that I don't have to worry about damaging. At this price point, there is no need to worry. Keep one in your trunk. Let your kids try it out. Just get one and enjoy a connection to generations of fly fisherman who have swung a bright yellow featherlight. Welcome to the club.

I flyfish and my usual rig is a 4/5 weight rod that I cast popper's with , I wanted to try using some smaller flies maybe size 12 - 18 so I needed a lighter rig , hence this purchase . First off , it's a good looking rod and the quality of it seem's good but I do wish they had left the 24" of measurement hash mark's off of it (if I want to measure a fish I'll use a tape) . Now I don't like "whippy" rod's which this guy is but I thought hey it's a $30 rod cut it some slack . So I rigged it up , took it to the lake and proceeded to ruin a day at the lake . I was using WF 3 weight line w/7 1/2' 3 lb. leader with a #10 fly . I could have cast a canepole further , I simply could not cast this thing . Was it me , my line selection , my leader or the rod ? I don't know what the problem was and I'll try some more line combination's before I give up on it . But for now , I'm not real happy with this rod purchase . Thank's , J . Read full review

I bought this rod for fishing tight spots and small streams. I also want to use it next spring in my kayak for bream fishing. I find the rod to be of good quality and priced right. I used it to fish the small stream behind my house and it worked extremely well. It's fiberglass and not carbon, but it has great action. I'm well satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend this rod.

I have been fly fishing for decades , I have over 13 rods, but wanted one i could use in tight space , to take along when using my lite spinning rod for trout and other fish only sipping insects of the surface etc . This rod from eagle claw is perfect ! It has a nice finish , guide wraps are nicely done , has a wood real seat and good up-locking reel hardware. Other nice touches are a hook keeper and a ruler on the blank ! The action is lite with more flex than I normally like.(most of my rods are fast action) but in this case it is perfect , the extra flex protects my 6x tippett and makes a 12" trout a lot of fun to catch. Overall I am very happy with this little stick and I have had hours of great fishing with or. For $25.00 dropped at my door , it's a no brainer!

I was looking for a short, cheap rod to fish my pond which has lots of overhang and this rod filled the bill perfectly. I was skeptical of the 3/4 weight rating, but it casts a 3wt line well and a 4wt line perfectly. Ideal for the bass, crappie and bluegill that inhabit my pond. Would also make a nice canoe rod.
