I enjoyed this book throughly! I could not put it down and as a result my housework, grocery shopping, and all other chores were severely neglected. I just finished the book. I enjoyed the format in which it was written. It went back and forth between sisters. Laura would tell about what was happening on her end - being held prisoner in North Korea. Lisa told her side about how she and others attempted to free Laura through asking U.S. government officials and former presidents of the U.S.A. to help and use their leverage to persuade the North Korean government to free Laura and her friend. It was a very emotional read. I also enjoyed gaining insite into the country of North Korean . North Korea is such a secretive country and the people are a mystery. The book gave a glimpse into both. After reading the book I feel even more grateful to live in the U.S.A. I would recommend this book highly.Read full review
Story is predictable. I wonder how Laura would have fared had it not been for Bill Clinton, the prison camp no doubt - graphically described. The tale, while at times engrossing, has too much repetition especially with pining to go home, pining for family, husband; at times became a laborious read.

The realistic writing puts the reader right in the location. I'm just glad I wasn't in her position.
