The monsters are overblown right out of the door from the begining! Just what is wanted from the land of Godzilla! Colorful, FUN, serious message wrapped up in an enjoyable anime that can be watched again, & again. This is a "call your friends for a Sunday afternoon VEG PARTY" anime! Break out the BIG RED, IKE & MIKE and Kick Back & Enjoy! Main Story: Earth is imperiled by a virus in our cells & the Earth that affects bugs, humans, & everything. People were frozen who first got the virus. 30+ years later our hero awakes from being frozen to find his disease has caused bugs to mutate & kill the population of the planet forcing a lucky few to a few space stations (Earth 2) & the Moon. Those left on Earth are being eaten alive literaly. Those that rescued him are a team looking for the frozen few. OK.....Sound familiar? It is, but better done by the Japanese if a bit drawn out. Lost in Space, (but on earth, same premise better results by far & better acting) The hero starts out a loser. He learns to cope, he learns to kill. He becomes a mega-killing machine. The woman warrior who rescues him teaches him to survive in no uncertain terms. The roles reverse eventually & he is megadeath & she becomes putty girl. But in the end they both wise-up and become responsible to the fact that they must stop being warriors & be humans & just take care of the earth & themselves. Love conquers all in a great way with a great message about the planet the way the japanese can only do it & it is kick but to watch. The background music sometimes overwhelms the actors speeking audio. The visuals from outbound space are captivating and wonderful. The long range and outdoor visuals in the fight scenes are sometimes unique, too loud, and the sounds do not blend but step on each other....but do not disappoint for many, many, non-stop action seqences with head-thumping goodness! I bought this anime blindly without ever hearing anything about it before. The first episode was so-so the next episode got better and after the third episode I couldn't stop myself from watching not until I finshed watching the entire 26 episodes that same night. The best description that I can compare it to is to the movie Starship Troopers but with bigger bugs and lot more bloodshed on Earth instead of some bug world. If you liked Starship Troopers even remotely then there is no doubt in mind that you wouldn't like Blue Gender. The only thing stopping me from give it a 5 out 5 are animes like Elfen Lied and Now and Then Here and There which truly deserves a 5/5 score.
I loved every second of it.

i dont know they were just good, i uses them again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personaly liked the longer version much more in depth and enjoyable. The shorter version is fine for those who want a quick fix but the characters look different and the ending is totally changed. Either way blue gender is a grand slam in anime.
