Being a fan of British TV and drama in general, I thought this would be an interesting addition to my collection. Plus, I've recently found Marc Warren as an actor and wanted to explore his body of work. I was expecting something along the lines of Law & Order meets CSI. And it is. Only a lot more gritty and intense. The sexual context was very mature and violence graphic. Sometimes the characters are flat and none of them are very likable. Which does make for interesting characterization: as people you might not want to be their friend, but as characters they do make you wonder about them. However, the female characters can be stereotypes (the cop with "daddy issues"; the shrewish wife) but it had potential enough so I wanted to see season two. With its "British feel" it might not be for all American viewers but is something worth viewing. It gets a "B" rating.Read full review
