Surprised to put this one in the top 20 of my collection of 200+ 3D blu rays. Crystal clear environment animation reminds me of the visual style of an old Saturday morning favorite, Jonny Quest. Simple story with a fun mix of real history and sci-fi steampunk fantasy. Geared more for a young teen audience than adults, War of the Worlds: Goliath looks like a 3D comic book. Few out-of-screen effects, but tons of depth and bright color as martians from the original H.G. Wells story invade earth again ... and humans must put World War 1 on the back burner to defend the planet! Ha. 3D aerial battles with flying saucers and old Red Baron-style triplanes offer lots of depth. Earth has established a fighting force of giant battle robots called Goliaths since the first invasion. Aliens, death rays, robots, steampunk machines and gizmos, what's not to love? Be warned that the voice acting/editing is bad, and the way the characters are drawn (like 1980s He-Man cartoons) feels wrong here. But it's cartoon schlock. One scene with ghosting searchlights in the night sky, but other than that, bright, vivid 3D throughout. If you ever remember hiding forbidden 3D sci-fi comic books under the covers after bedtime, you'll love this one. Will definitely watch again for the visuals. Four fun, nostalgic 3D stars!Read full review
