I am a sucker for this movie since I am absolutely in love with Paris. Beyond that, the film is fun and with great cinematography. If you have seen this on Netflix, this version will be a revelation. The colour is not nearly as saturated; from what I understand it is true(er) to the director’s vision and intention. I haven’t seen the BluRay transfer, but if it is “goosed up” like the Netflix version, I’ll forgo the higher resolution. Yes, the storyline is a bit cliched and there are silly, predictable moments. I don’t care. You know how people say how great Paris is? It’s not true. It’s BETTER. And Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates and all the cast make this a lovely film that makes me sigh to return. Maybe I won’t use my return ticket and see how long it takes the French government to deport me. It would be worth it. Unless, at midnight, I’m transported to Gertrude Stein’s apartment. One can dream.Read full review

ALL Woody Allen movies are a variation on the theme of Woody himself. In recent years he's chosen lead actors as alter-egos,, but his dialog is such that they all act like Woody in his earlier movies; which can be strange as in the movie with Sarah Jessica Parker as Woody. In This movie Owen Wilson is very good and seems to be a natural Woody. The Plot is charming and the other characters are well cast and as always the music is great. So yes, this is a good Woody movie. If you like watching a clumsy but sympathetic jewish nebish in a comic setting, you will like this movie.

It has romance, conflict, history, represents famous personalities that influenced our culture, all in a movie with excellent actors and fabulous surroundings. What's not to love? With an all-star cast (esp love Marion Cotillard) and Woody Allen as writer and director, it's original, informative and entertaining all in one.

Superb acting and production. Probably one of Woody Allen's very best and fortunately didn't have a hint of his previous concentrations on psychological gibber jabber. I bought the movie because I had enjoyed it on cable tv and wanted to share it with some friends. Woody's talent has always been outstanding and worth seeing...this is one of the best of his and can stand up to the best of other movies! His mix and handling of famous artists of that era was beyond his usual strokes of genius. Every moment seemed real. I am finally a fan of his! I highly recommend Midnight in Paris! He, his performers and crew join the ranks of high quality fantasy story tellers. And without having to resort to extremely expensive, distracting and overdone special effects. There's not a wasted moment in the entire movie! It's a pleasant dream I plan to explore again.Read full review
One of Wood Allen's best !!!! This movie takes you back to the Paris of the 1920s complete with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemmingway, and who could forget, Josephine Baker !!! As seen throught the eyes of a man from our century who would like to go back to that era while in Paris with his girlfriend and her parents. I had seen this movie recently on the Mexican channel dubbed in Spanish and I was slightly disappointed that there was no Spanish language sound track-just one in French and subtitles in Spanish. Too bad, there are millions of Spanish speakers today and no one really likes reading subtitles all the time. Anyway, great value and great movie !!!
