If you're a fan of the original Outer Limits series, you'll enjoy watching these episodes over and over. Although Season 2 was the end of the line for the show, and some episodes fall way short, (malevolent tumbleweeds?) Season 2 still holds a few gems ("Demon With a Glass Hand," "The Inheritors" and a very young William Shatner in "Cold Hands, Warm Heart"). The DVD product itself, however, leaves something to be desired. MGM simply repackaged its' earlier release in a cheaper, cardboard sleeve. I have the 2002 release of Season 1, and it has a nice plastic case and a booklet containing the original air dates of each episode and a brief plot synopsis. There have been many complaints that at least 2 of the episodes would not play in the Season 2 set, but all of the episodes on my copy play just fine. But if MGM cared about the product at all, they could have put a little thought and effort into the presentation. As an example, the only 2-part episode, "The Inheritors," (which features Robert Duvall with hair and a pre-teenage Morgan Brittany,) was split up on 2 sides of a disc. The outer packaging lists 2 episodes as appearing on 2 different discs. It's really kind of a mess, but if you're a child of the early '60's and a fan of the show, it's your only option short of collecting the old VHS copies. I also highly recommend Outer Limits fans search for David Schow's "The Outer Limits Companion." It is an excellent book that has been recently updated, and fans of the show will find lots of great behind-the-scenes info. The shoddy presentation of Season 2 notwithstanding, the DVD itself is sharp and the audio is of good quality. We original Outer Limits fans just need to accept the fact that not everyone loves the series as much as we do. Unfortunately, that seems to include MGM itself. But now my Outer Limits video collection is complete, and I am content. If you miss the old show since they've stopped running it on the Sci Fi channel, pick up a copy. You'll find it at a reasonable price on eBay, and in spite of it's flaws, it's worth it.Read full review
I really liked The Outer Limits (original 1960's series) when I was growing up. Some of the episodes did scarce me though back then. Now getting to see the entire series again as a middle-age adult, some of the episodes I can remember quite clearly. Of course now they don't scarce me at all. Brought back some good memories also as I used to watch some of these with my father. I decided to purchase all 3 seasons of The Outer Limits (original series) here on eBay. I checked the prices at the local store and found out that the prices were much higher and of course the local sales tax was added on. I recommend the whole series to any sci-fi bluff, young or old.
I watched this show when I was a teen. Always loved it. It could be creepy, funny, scary, silly, moving. It’s always a great show. If you’ve never seen it, give it a try. If you’re a sci-fi fan, you’ll like it!
