Very clear optics at all magnifications. Rugged tube. I have owned the Nikon Buckmaster and prefer the Zeiss for clarity reasons. The eye relief is good at a generous 4 inches. Low light is not an issue with this scope. The warranty is top notch. Holds Zero even on larger calibers. The adjustments are true 1/4 at 100 yards. Turret adjustments are good, not too mushy and not too stiff. Reticle is great, not so heavy as to cover the target. The difference in quality optics are evident as soon as you hold it up to your eye. I would highly recommend this product. The only drawback I have noticed is the power adjustment is reverse of most other scopes.

I own Leupold, Swarovski and Zeiss riflescopes and all are excellent, however I feel that the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 (especially with the Z-600 reticle) is the best for me. The Leupold Vari-X III with Boone & Crocket reticle and Zeiss Conquest with Z-600 are both comparable in cost but I feel the Z-600 is a better reticle because it has aiming and windage correction points out to 600 yards while the Leupold has aiming points out to only 500 yards and windage correction only out to 400 yards. Zeiss's reticle is "thinner" which allows me more precision in aiming yet I have never had a problem seeing it in dim light. I often shoot at long range so the Zeiss features suit me better. Additionally, Leupold's 500 yard aiming point (transition from thick to thin point of vertical stadia) is harder for me to use than a horizontal line. Swarovski are great scopes but are much more expensive than the other scopes I mentioned. In summary I think the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 (especially with the Z-600 reticle) offers the best combination of value and performance. I own three and expect to buy more.Read full review
This particular scope 3x-9x is superb. From 3 to 9 times, the clarity on it stays the same no matter how far you zoom on it, the clarity is crystal clear, no blurring at all. I think the scope has a longer affective range then what Zeiss has it listed as, but that's just opinion. The scope itself is very resistant to damage, and feels solid. The fitment of it is great, and very easy to adjust. The scope is a good size so its very easy to see the reticle on many different types of guns. Even though I was relatively new to guns, this was a real easy scope to use and extremely clear. The Zeiss name is known for quality products. The clarity is about as good as you can get period, and that's not just based on price. With Zeiss you really get what you pay for. I will be buying Zeiss scopes for a long time.Read full review
I needed a new scope for my Winchester Model 70 in .308; so I bought this knowing of the Zeiss reputation. I am very impressed! I also bought the Zeiss rings and sunshade, also excellent! If you want great light transmission and long eye relief; this is the scope! I have Leupold scopes on 4 other rifles and they do not compare for clarity. They are long, but not excessively. I do wish they were offered in a gloss finish to match some older guns. Perhaps the best scope for the money out there. I will be purchasing more! ~ Michael Perzel III
i went with carl zeiss because of the product quality.even though this model is the low end of their product line, they have not cheapened the scope in any way i can see.it is on a tikka t3,in .243.a lw sporter and a dual purpose cartridge.the mating was perfect. this is not an ultralight scope, just about a pound with rings, but the combo is around 7 1/2 lbs.,perfect for doing some walking around but enough weight to hold steady and recoil isn't felt.the scope is clear enough to see single 1/4 inch(.243) bullet holes at 100m,and 3-5 shot groups at 200m.no spotting scope needed!it even works out that the top of the bottom cross hair, where it transitions to the finer crosshair is the correct hold for 300m.can't beat that with a stick.this scope is worth more than they charge for it,i payed $365. shipped to my door.but if it sold for more i probably would have gotten a mid range nikon instead.so the price did matter to me,and because of that i have a great set-up for the southern deer hunting that i do,with some varmit shooting thrown in.i would not buy another zeiss just because i don't own a safe full of rifles,a .243 for deer,a 30-06 for bigger game,it has a 4x40 nikon buckmaster, and a 45-70 for shooting hogs.it has a 1x20 nikon buckmaster, for those 1 yard shots in the palmetto, and the 75 yard shots on stand.no falts with this scope, but there should not be,and i believe it is the best scope in its price range,if i did not i would not own it.God Bless, keep hunting/shooting as long as we can.Read full review
