Stargate SG-1 is one of the greatest sci-fi series to ever sci-fi. Season 1 is a bit of a slow start but it's important for universe building. SG-1 does a great job of staying true to the movie, but still forms it's own unique and original identity. However, if you're looking at the DVD's, then you are likely a fan of the series already. So i'll just say it's worth owning the DVD or Blue-ray collection if you are a true Stargate fan. It's also one of the best ways to support the series and show there is still a hunger for Stargate.

I would not recommend buying this boxed set version. - no English subtitles for hard of hearing...Deduct 1 star. - poorly packaged, takes up too much room on my shelf...Deduct another star. - poorly marked, difficult to figure out what season disc I'm trying to play...Deduct yet 1 more star. - good commentaries...Put back 1 star. Look for version 2.0 that doesn't hog up so much shelf space, but still no captions. Look for what I believe to be version 3.0 in the predominately white cases to address all my concerns. Once the buying public got to be smarter consumers, the studios had to respond with better product.

Really Like this TV series from the movie. It continues on where the movie left off. I like Richard Dean Anderson (McGyver) that plays the colonel replacing Kurt Russel from the original movie. Has lots of great programs. The only thing that I didn't like is the premier episode #1. I was caught off guard because it has in one part in it that has several scenes of nudity and is Rated R. So beware if you get Season #1 and have children. I didn't know how this episode passed being on TV with that in it. All the other episodes are OK, Not Rated.

You'll notice some plot inconsistencies in the first few episodes, but hey, we can't blame the writers so early on. The 'additional content' is mediocre, as is the DVD menus and such. Still, you get the episodes in widescreen and uncut, which means every once in a while you'll catch something not in the original. Parental Note: In one of the episodes, Sha-ri is shown fully nude. Other then that, not much beyond fantasy violence. Excellent series for a Stargate:SG1 fan.
One of my all time favorite sci-fi series: Between the on-screen relationships depicted with members of SG-1 and the noble modern ideals this entertainment is light years better than any of the other TV shows that are available. This increasingly rare DVD works well and displays the program in a DVD player in a computer. The box is also aesthetically pleasing.
