As one would expect, if you spend all your days making ear-bleeding rock with the Smashing Pumpkins, when you come home you'll likely pick up your acoustic rather than plug in your Marshall stack. James Iha's "Let It Come Down" is a very low key album full of sweet love songs. Clearly inspired by some of Neil Young's more contemplative moments, Iha crafts beautiful songs. A little too beautiful, perhaps. If anything, the album is a little too sweet, too syrupy. That said, Iha has an amazing gift for writing bridges. Every song, even the ones that are a little too saccrine like Country Girl or Jealousy, sneaks up after the second chorus with an amazing bridge section. Overall, Let It Come Down is a fantastic album for a Sunday morning or any other moment of relaxation.
