This is an older version of an newer print date, but so far seems to be reliable as to the loops. Each of the 13 loops " back road " tours is supposed to take an hour. However, if you stop and see the sights, it will take a lot longer. We took a quick walking tour of Lexington and will need to come back just to do the real walking tour justice. I grew up traveling the back roads with my parents, so I love this little book. However, I was driving and my husband was in the passenger seat reading the directions and kept complaining he was missing the sights. So it might be good to familiarize yourself with the trip first. There are a lot of directions by distance, and I kept setting my odometer to zero.

I live in the Shenandoah Valley, and although it's probably meant for tourists, it's great for residents too! It gave my husband and I some wonderful ideas for inexpensive Saturday afternoon dates. I suggest purchasing for anyone coming though the valley for the first time or home folks who want a little more history about this beautiful place. K. Hughes, Timberville
