The book is excellent and very informative. A great source of information on the beginnings of the American Legion and the men who were responsible for getting it started back in 1919. I am using it for background and research for a presentation later this month on the local Post of the American Legion in Harvard, Illinois. Many thanks for this fine book!

A most comprehensive book documenting the American Legion from its founding days after World War I through 1989. The role, purpose, and mission of the American Legion is shown through the turmoil and challenges that veterans of the war faced upon returning home. The mission of The American Legion is plainly indicated placing the primary goal in supporting veterans through their adjustment into civilian life and building a foundation for the modern American Legion that continues to maintain that mission. From those humble beginnings the American Legion has grown into the Largest Veterans Organization and continues to serve American veterans through programs that were established in 1919.
This a good overall history of the American Legion.
