This is without any doubt the best possible collection of Aretha Franklin's songs with the Atlantic label. Covering the years 1967-74, this title does indeed have 30 songs (I have read that the title may not be 100% accurate, but it's not a bad one for it). It contains a lot of her well known songs (Respect, Chain of Fools, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Think, etc). I first listened to this on tape years ago (a format which I very rarely play anymore), and I enjoyed most of the songs. Then, I found this on CD and got it. Years later, I got it on LP, and this album is one of my favorites. What's interesting is that each era is profiled on two discs (the first CD profiles her 60s hits, while the second CD profiles her 70s hits; this also applies to the two record set). The tape format was very much the same, except that Aretha's 1970 hit, "Call Me", was the last song on side 1. Kind of odd. Oh well. Anyway, this album came out when Aretha was already with the Arista label. I think Atlantic released this title as their way of thanking Aretha for her excellent hard work with them. A must have for fans of Aretha Franklin and soul music, or for anyone wanting to have a starter album of hers. CDs have excellent sound quality. Get it while you can.Read full review
This was a rare find for me ever since I was a small child in Chicago I have heard Aretha Franklin's music on the tv and radio. My father loved this album all though he had it on eight track he would sit in the living room and listen to it for hours on end the sweet yet powerful sounds of Ms. Franklin's vocals were as sultry smooth as one could find in any jazz club or church choir her range, pitch and timing are still as magnificent today as they were in the swinging sixties. Thank you for bringing back a very sweet piece of my childhood. Ms. C. Stacker

Purchased this ten years ago. However I let someone borrow it, and you know what happens after they've had your stuff more than six months, they think they bought it themselves. So I am replacing it and resolve to no longer let people borrow things from my collection. Anyway as far as I am concerned this is her best work, mid 60's to mid 70's classics. Those were my young partying days, and we loved us some Retha baby. This is when she wore the crown uncontested, in the past 15 years I don't know, names like Whitney, Maria, Jill and Beyonce come to mind. And please excuse the spelling of any of these womens names because I'm not a big fan of two of them anyway.
There is no one like Aretha is this CD is one of the best! I was really pleased with the quality of the CD too. No skips or problems. This was part of the buy 2 get 1 free promotion so it was a great deal too!

This is the best collection of Arethas greatest hits that you will ever find. The recording quality is excellent as is the selection and sequence of the songs. This is a 2 CD set which includes all of the hits that you know, and some songs which you may not have heard. If there is one flaw on the CD it is the cut "Angel" a lesser known but wonderful song written by Arethas sister Carolyn and for some strange reason the song on the CD is edited in the middle cutting out a verse and then ends abruptly without the normal and beautiful fade out to the end. Also on "Do Right Woman Do Right Man" the recording is a slightly different"take" from the "take" that was originally released . This is really the only Aretha hits CD you will ever need. The definitive collection by the one and only Queen of soul.Read full review
