This is not a movie it is a segment on a tv show that ran in the 40s or 50s. The picture is a little grainy which is to be expected as these shows weren't meant to last. The Abbott and Costello sequence is pure gold

I purchased this DVD thinking it at least an hour long clip of Abbott & Costello meeting the Creature from the Black Lagoon. It is, in fact a SMALL skit located at the end of this DVD, the rest of it being an episode of the Colgate Palmolive Hour Show. I am disappointed to say the least! The skit itself with them is great and I loved it but I had to sit through two horrible, non-funny comedians, the ice skater Sonja Hening, and some pretty bad singing and acting from the performers of this weekly show that was on (I believe) in the late 50s, early 60s. I did recognize Carolyn Jones as the "dame" in one of the show's skits with gangsters, which was not funny or entertaining in the least. I just think the explanation of what is actually on this DVD should be included -- let the buyer know that even though you are seeing the title and the picture on the DVD case, it does NOT mean that the WHOLE DVD is about this -- it is just a small skit. Oh wait, I just did this myself! : )Read full review

Abbott and Costello have a 5 to 10 minute skit at the end of the show. It is entertaining to watch that, but not as good as the skits on their movies. I am in my early 60s, but felt too young to enjoy watching the rest of the show. I have never heard of or seen any of the other people on the show. It is a variety show sponsored by Colgate Palmolive. The commercials were more interesting than the show. There was one skit about what if coffee was banned (prohibition of coffee) in the US that was the best part of the show, about 5 to 10 minutes. Ice skating to music took up 25 to 30 percent of the show. She may have been someone famous at the time, but I found it better to play these in fast forward. At 2x the normal speed, they looked much better. The quality of the picture was grainy, but not that bad for the time. The "Creature" makes an appearance at the end, less than 10 seconds, so the title is very misleading. My parents may have enjoyed this if they were still alive, but now I've seen it, and it will just go into my collection for my kids to sort out some day.Read full review

I was under the impression this a a monster movie, when in all reality its just a comedy hour show, with a small guest appearance from Abbott and Costello. I did like seeing the TV commercials tho and they have the trailer (several times) for creature from black lagoon the movie-- which was fun to watch. .. still not a movie tho

Disappointing dvd. Poor quality recording of a cheesy variety show from 1954. Abbott and Costello is entertaining as always but not what I was expecting. Just a short "maybe 10 minute" skit with Bud and Lou. I was really looking forward to this but major let down instead.
