This Shimano is easy to use, and has great quality in workmanship and design. It's not very expensive, either. I have more than one of these, and will probably but another one or two. When I take friends out to fish for fresh water stripers, this rod is easiest for them to use.

I have purchased several Shimano Spirex reels over the years. I have them in every size available. They are a very good quality reel with the quick fire trigger for easy casting. The Spirex is very quiet and smooth and is built to last. Its definitely worth the average price of about $60. I have used the Spirex for years and will keep using them until I wear them out.

I've always love the Shimano Spirex models, this is the first time and definitely not the only time I am purchasing these front drag models, I am glad I gave them a try, they outperform the rear drag models, the rear drag models with the two controls are not so convenient as you would think. Try this Shimano Spirex Front Drag model, you'll definitely love it.

Used this weekend for inshore saltwater fishing. The rod was lighter action than I expected but the reel cast and retrieved flawlessly.
