I consindered myself fairly fit going into this pregnancy - ran several miles, could easily manage an aerobics workout. I wanted a pregnancy workout that would challenge me. I had heard many videos were more about stretching and relaxing. This one was such a challenge that I couldn't keep up with her in the beginning! My legs were so sore. She worked the muscles you don't use every day - but will certainly be using during labor! I do not have a partner to do the exercises she does with her husband, but I have watched that segment. Most can be modified to do alone and many are similar to those she does in the regular workout. I can see the benefits of having a partner: it's something fun you can do together, a way for Dad to be involved, and it could actually be kinda sexy. Lastly, there is a post-natal video. I am in my eigth month so I haven't even unwrapped that one yet. I will probably pull it out soon just to review it - I did the same with the first video as well because it's good to know what to expect. I would suggest you do that with any new work out video. I am very happy with this video and would suggest it for all Moms-To-Be, even if you aren't going into the pregnancy with a strong fitness background. Just take it slow, don't bend as much and use less arm to keep it at your level. If I have one complaint, it would be this (as with EVERY exercise video): you really only need each exercise explained a time or two, yet you have to go through the explanation every time you watch it. I wish video producers would have a beginning version as well as the same routine without the pauses and explanations. Most routines run an hour at most; there's plenty of space on a disc to store two versions. All in all, I say get this video series!Read full review
I can only speak for the postnatal portion of this DVD set as I didn't buy this until after I had my baby. I've used the video twice now & I love it! She is very calming & the steps on the video are very easy to start out with. It is a lot of yoga-like moves & the stretching feels great. Each portion of the video is around 15 min each so you can start out slow & not feel overwhelmed. Overall I think this video is fantastic & would recommend it to everyone.
The DVD is great! Before I was pregnant, I used Jillian Michaels. This DVD is very similar but obviously much safer for a pregnant women. The workout I get is amazing and I do not feel over worked. Erin is very soothing but knows her stuff. After the workout I feel VERY relaxed but much healthier. I would recommended this to anyoen that is expecting. VERY VERY great DVD
This is a fast paced exercise video that will leave you sweating. I was sore the next day but I needed it. After sitting around on my rear the first trimester of my pregnancy this is the perfect video for me.
Purchased as gift for my daughter. She loves the workout. She exercises regularly and was worried this wouldn't be challenging enough, but fortunately it is! Degree of difficulty is intermediate.
