I've read this once and plan on reading it again very soon. When I first read it (and I shared this with my friends whom I've loaned it to), the first 50 pages have you a bit confused: you don't know where tha author is going with the story. But magically and for some reason, everything begins falling into place at magical page 50. This is a story that you'll never forget, a very moving tale about everyday families with every day problems with a twist here and there. I highly recommend this. And to those who couldn't get through the book, and I've talked to several, they've retried it and yes, at page 50 it started making sense. I hope Wally Lamb comes out with more great books such as this.
I had to buy this book after reading Wally Lamb's first book, She's Come Undone. I was afraid it would not be as good as his first book, (She's Come Undone) because I loved this first one so much, but it was just as intriguing and awesome as the first, if not better. This is a wonderful book by a very talented author. It is large ( almost 900 pages ) and I finished it in less than 2 days because I was glued. It had me laughing and crying at many moments; both of his books have gotten me very involved. I will definitely remember this book forever. A Must read!
This is one of the best books written in the past twenty years. Wally Lamb is a master storyteller. I bought this particular version of the book to re-read it, about thirteen years after it originally debuted. It is just as haunting and moving today as it was then. I bought the paperback since I thought it might be easier to handle, given the length of the book. It is. If heavy books are an issue for you, an e-book version may be preferable. Do not let the length of this book deter you from reading it. Once started, it's very hard to put down.
Wally Lamb is one of my favorite authors, its a great read. I shared my book years ago and somehow never got it back so wanted to replace it. My daughters read it andd loved it too,as well as other Wally Lamb books. Its amazing to me that Wally Lamb is a man yet he SO gets women and how our minds work.
