You can't help feeling something when you look at his paintings. Norman Rockwell draws you into the scene through his lifelike characters and identifiable happenings - it is easy to imagine yourself as one of the characters in paintings, sometimes it is even intentional by the artist. Many of the scenes set are a beautiful display of what we might have encountered in our lives - not so much the supreme life altering events, but the happenstance moments of life we feel some strong connection with. These are the type of events that we may commonly experience and never note the simple true beauty of the moment. If only we had someone standing by to notice them and point them out for us... Mr. Rockwell's work is also an excellent document of the time in which he lived. He was able to capture his cultures values with his own sometimes subtle commentary. The viewer is sometimes challanged to see into the painting and ask a question of himself. In many paintings it is possible that the painting is more complex than the scene at hand; consider your feelings when you view some of the paintings - the artist is using the painting as a mirror for the viewer to look at himself. In my opinion, and many others I'm sure, this man is one of the great American artists. His work has brought joy to so many. As such I believe his work may warrant a few moments of your time. This book was picked at random, I'm certain there are many other such books of one of Americas most successful artist's work. I would also recommend seeking out the original paintings if they are on display - most are about four feet tall and reveal a greater depth than any of the other books I've looked at(even the most recent book at a Detroit Institute of Arts viewing could not compare to the original work). That being said you will not be disappointed with any of the reproductions as the subject matter (story), characters and Norman Rockwell's vibrant talent for portraing the human condition shine through brilliantly. Thank you Mr. Rockwell.Read full review
I have always been fascinated with Norman Rockwell’s work. A couple years ago I visited the Rockwell Museum - and that was Fantastic. (If you’ve never been, plan a trip. The eBay book was ok, and a very special value at <$5 with shipping. The book was published in Japan in 1978. Although the pictures were very good, my sense is that the print quality and maybe the color intensity are a bit less than we’re used to now days. Overall, I was impressed, and would certainly do the order again!

Delivered in perfect condition and the book is most enjoyable to look through. The size is good so one can view the pictures in their fullness and the script that goes along with each pictture is descriptive of each picture. A super value !
