Inspired by the biography Carole Landis wrote about USO tours she made at the onset of US participation in WWII, "Four Jills in a Jeep," does a swell job of recreating several of the actress' musical contributions to the USO's war effort to support troops. Also on tour were Kay Francis, Mitzi Mayfair & Martha Raye. The 4 actresses play themselves! Alice Faye, Betty Grable & Carmen Miranda are heard singing tunes from their famous musicals over radio broadcasts to troops. Singer Dick Haymes makes his debut introducing the song, "How Blue the Night." Phil Silvers provides an early characterization of 'Sergeant Bilko'. Martha Raye provides crack-up comedy Silvers. (Raye continued to entertain troops in Korea & Vietnam). Jimmy Dorsey & his swing band provide back-up music for the women. It's a fun, historical & based in reality film with a little romance added to spice it up~Read full review
