Nearing the digital
Greetings All. With quite a few EOS Bodies about, and lenses in numbers, I purchased this Elan for the reliability one expects from Canon. The features are varied, and easily addressed through the left dial nearest the flash housing, making for natural selection like most more vintage SLR's. The heft of the Polycarbonate hull lends to a stable grasp with the aide of the Pistol grip integrated into the classic. It's LCD is easy to discern, and the viewfinder display is a joy to collect your settings from even in the dimmest of situations. The manual flash does it's calculations, and alters the intensity based on distance like many dedicated varieties. It is definitely the quietest of operators with both the shutter & motor drive silenced to near inaudible levels. Would suggest this camera for anyone already familiar with most of Canon's early digital cameras, as the controls are very nearly the same in form & function. Finely engineered, and rightly featured for most any situation you might need a film camera. Two thumbs up.Read full review

Very Satisfied.
Bought the camera from a desire to shoot film and use the eos lenses that I currently own. This camera blew my mind as it is basically the precursor to the 30d and 20d digital slr's I own. The form factor is the same even with the command wheel on back. I think since I was already familiar with the form factor the learning curve was nil. I have had no problems with the camera so far and this is after 4-36 exp rolls of film. Glad I got it.

The Canon EOS Elan is still a highly desirable camera
What a fantastic camera. The Canon EOS Elan was THE pro-consumer camera for Canon shooters of the day. Top-notch build quality and still a reliable film camera today. All the basic features a current Canon EF shooter needs and is fully compatible with all recent Canon EF lenses, offering the best image quality.
