I ordered this book because I, mistakenly, thought that it was a continuation of the war experiences of Guy Sajer. The title of the book is exactly the same as "The Forgotten Soldier" but WITH A DIFFERENT FRONT COVER! That is very misleading. Now I have two copies of the same book. I have no idea why it was published with two different cover illustrations.

Guy Sajer is a solider for the German Army, during WWII, on the Russian Front. The book is a true story and written in the first person. The reader feels and can almost see and smell what the war was like. Sajer tells about WWII like it was - brutal. Neither side was clean - both the Germans and the Russians committed war crimes, and Sajer tells all! The book is a very easy read and hard to put down - as you feel like you are right in the middle of the action!
