It's about heart, hardship and fighting the good fight
I love this book for three reasons. First, it is beautifully written, standing above any nonfiction I've ever read. At times, the hard reality of having cancer is revealed with pen-point sharpness. Other times, the descriptions roll poetically like Lance through the clearing Alpine mist. Second, the book is informative. It gives an insider's view about both cancer treatment and professional cycling. Third, and best of all, it's an unvarnished story of the fighter, Lance Armstrong. His Texas-sized competitiveness, his temper, his foolishness, his family and friends, are candidly revealed. The world's greatest cyclist pulls through. The reader is pulled through, too, hoping that if we never stop battling and pulling one foot forward that pain will succumb victory. This is a story about the life-force that is in and around each of us.Read full review

Good purchase
I like lance armstrong and I am currently a runner and triathlete. I was looking for some inspiration for running as I run in college and staying motivated can be tough. I really like this book it was a good book and thats saying alot considering I dont like to read books. I like the fact that lance tells all about his battles during this tough time in his life. Also liked the pictures he included in the book. I really had no dislike of this book I would recomend it to anyone espcially people who are sports fans its a true tail of how a man was working his way to the top then everything was taken from him and he bounced bake even stroger. Awesome book loved it.

Cancer survivors
This is a great book for anyone who has cancer or a loved one with the disease. This book truly is "not about the bike". It's about surviving & making goals & dreams for yourself as you deal with your cancer diagnosis & treatment. It is about having very little chance of surviving but fighting for the chance you do have. I'm so glad to find these books at a discount as I give them to people when I hear of their cancer battle. Being a survivor, myself, I found such comfort & related to many things Lance wrote of that no one I knew personally would say to me. A must read for everyone! Cancer or no cancer!

Inspirational Read!
I read "Its Not About The Bike" late last year after I started having irregular heartbeats. The stress and fear of not knowing exactly what was causing my problems left me tired and depressed. I was wearing a heart monitor the day I came across his book at the library. I have always like Lance and while my issue was far different from what he went through, I read the book cover to cover. I found hope, strength and a sense of peace by the time I read the last page. With new determination, and a diagnosis of Premature Ventricular Contractions, I started medication, exercise and new diet. I feel much better now and recently referred his book to a co-worker of mine who is dealing with the possibility of cancer. Thank you, Lance!

Inspiring ride
If this book doesn't inspire you, don't bother checking for a pulse, you're already dead. I have always been impressed by Lance Armstrong's cycling abilities and fight against cancer, but until reading this book, I had no clue to the many challenges he had to overcome. His relationship with his mother, wife, fellow cyclists and supporting friends, made me reflect on the many great friends and family whom I could, have and do count on.
