My reasoning for purchasing the "I Dream of Jeannie: Complete Series" box set?: I was sick and tired of seeing the program interrupted by four and a half minute commercial breaks. I was appalled by the syndicated programmers cutting and fading out of scenes so they could schedule the commercial breaks. I enjoy and it makes me extremely happy to look at Barbara Eden. Barbara Eden and Dawn Wells of "Gilligan's Island" are the epitome of what a woman should be. It makes me very, very happy to see both of these charming women at my discretion!!! Anyway, I also wanted the Sony edition of this series because of the better video quality and, much to my happiness, the first season has been colorized. I received a great item at a super price which will bring me a lifetime of pleasure!!!

There 2 scenes are missing from 2 separate episodes., "Jeannie & The Hip Hippie and Please Don't Feed the Astronauts" It should have been uncut full episodes. As for the discs, they improved the 1st season colorization, and I assume they digitally remastered Seasons 2-5. also, they should have the original Screen Gems logo at the end of each episode, some have it and most of them don't.

This show was one of my favorites when I was growing up. This is an excellent product-excellent sound and quality- but I was shocked as to how shabbily the product was packaged. Instead of taking the time to give each of the DVD's their own slot, they were stacked on top of each other. I feel that it was a disservice to the show and the actors not to take the time to package this show to reflect the gem that it truly is. All in all, it's still one of my favorites that brings a smile to my heart each time I watch it!

Version: This version, the 20-DVD set, is preferred over the less expensive 12 DVD set for reasons of video quality. How do you get the same number of shows on less discs? Compress the digital data! Unfortunately video quality suffers. Packaging: You may find the packaging a bit lacking, as the DVDs are simply stacked one upon another in a plastic shell. Careful handling will be required to prevent scratching discs. Content: This is where this product really shines. I don't know about anyone else, but to me the quality of television programs since the age of "reality" TV is lacking what storytelling and entertainment needs most - imagination. It seems that somewhere along the way writers stopped writing and substituted ad hoc video for creativity. So it's refreshing to return to an era when stories were original, characters were engaging, and it was safe for family viewing. In "I Dream of Jeannie" Barbara Eden is charming as a genie, and you'll see a frenetic Larry Hagman - quite a different character than he would play in "Dallas" a decade later. The show aired from 1965-70, which coincided with some of the most momentous events of the space age, and Hagman appropriately plays an astronaut. And that is how you get a great TV series - mix a little reality with a little fantasy; and a little romantic tension with unusual situations. Well worth watching! Read full review

Great show on DVD. The funny thing is I've been watching this television show since I was an infant and when I bought the DVD collection there were episodes I've never seen before. Tv networks never play episodes in order and repeat maybe about 15 episodes. This was really like watching something new for me. I'll regret when I'm done with all the episodes because it's so much fun to watch. I just wish the first season was not colourized. They did an excellent job adding the colour to the original black and white episodes but it would have been cool to have that option to watch without the colour as one of the newer released editions included.
