Typical nicely done Martha Stewart cookbook. Very few pictures though. I love Martha's team's endless supply of unique flavors, combinations, as well as her old fashioned recipe collections. Unfortunately, I have found several Martha Stewart recipes that simply do NOT work. I'm an experienced, meticulous cook and baker, and there are some things, especially baked items, which have GOT to be incorrect. I love to try though, multiple times, and have others try the recipe, but they have the same disasterous results. I have written to her about certain recipes, but never gotten a reply, though I didn't really expect one. She's a busy lady and I'm sure her employees are as well.
I felt lucky getting this book the day it came out. The recipes are from her Martha Stewart Living magazine....all the best of the best! What I liked most was that it is not real fussy cooking but more on the traditional side. There are about 1200 recipes on 608 pages, for all kinds of occasions. This book has 19 classically arranged chapters from basic and breakfast to meat and dessert and of course in between you have everything else you could hope for! Martha has also included some cooking 101's for foods that everyone should have in their repertoire, like the Macaroni and Cheese and Fried Chicken. There are plenty of cooking tips and an equipment glossary which I found very helpful. An up-dated Martha Stewart in keeping with our busy lives.
No one can do it better than Marta Stewart. Where does this lady get all her knowledge? My husband says thats why shes rich she pays people to research and make these things with her picture on them. But i say oh well. Everything she bakes and cooks comes out perfect. I always say im going to do it like Martha Stewart. When im in the kitchen he refers to me as Martha. Last year for Christmas he got me an aprin that says im Martha's Twin. I love this book! Recipes and pictures are perfect!!
I actually bought this for ONE recipe and it was, thankfully, in it. It's the Lime Meltaways and they are absolutely amazing cookies unlike many you may have had. I may be biased, but almost everything Martha Stewart has to offer esp. cookbooks is worth buying. Many good and simple recipes and few complcated ingredients in this one anyway. Very very happy with my purchase.
