This blu-ray worked as expected. I had seen the movie before, so I knew what to expect. I have an extensive collection of 3D blu-rays and the equipment required to play them. As is the case in many 3D movies, there are a lot of dark scenes in this one, and 3D tends to make dark scenes look even darker, so expect that. The movie, like all the recent Star Trek movies, has an excellent cast of characters. Even though the story has some narrative shortcomings, it is the cast, the humor and the action that make this Star Trek worth watching. The 3D isn't bad for a 2D to 3D conversion.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is a magnificent re-working of familiar events, conflicts and old enemies with the endless potential of the alternate reality scenario. STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS surreptitiously reworks events and characters from STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN and the original Star Trek series via the possibilities of this alternate reality. This time out the cohesion of the story, the characters and dramatics are much more focused and defined, honed to perfection for this new vision. The story is more compelling as it unfolds when compared to its 2009 predecessor. INTO DARKNESS is aptly named. The performances of the primary characters are well defined and realized. Chris Pine demonstrates a controlled intellectual and emotional force that the 2009 script did not focus on. Karl Urban's performance demonstrates that Bones does not exactly have a "continued predilection for irrelevancy" as is seen on the big screen. Benedict Cumberbatch's villainy is brilliantly realized in his histrionic performance. As for the plot, it is a powerful one often thought provoking and exhilarating. It looks like STAR TREK is back and here to stay.Read full review
A fun movie with many subtle and not so subtle salutes to the "Wrath of Khan" movie, from lo these many years ago. I thought the "deus ex machina" of Khan's blood saving Kirk was a bit too much. Frankly, I also thought that it was WAY TOO EARLY in their barely developed relationship as friends. The "Wrath of Khan" at least set the incident after the years of the TV series. "Into Darkness" sets it very soon after Kirk becomes captain of the Enterprise. The scene seemed a bit forced in "Darkness" where Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are just starting to get into a flow portraying Kirk and Spock. But all in all it is still a fun movie.
Excelente continuidad para la nueva saga, sus personajes increibles, excelente actuaciones, la película agradable en todos los sentidos y mas por ser 3D . Esta nueva generación va a dar mucho de que hablar. La película en 3D 100% Recomendada.
